Reading Liberal Jewish Community

RLJC is a small liberal community based in Reading and serving Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and South Oxfordshire. The Community is a constituent of “Liberal Judaism”, The Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues.

                                                    

 

Shabbat morning services take place on the first and third Shabbat of the month at the Friends’ Meeting House. The cheder also meets twice a month on Saturdays. 

 

Although we do not have our own synagogue building, the Friends' Meeting House in Reading make us very welcome, and we use the fully accessible building for Shabbat and Festival services. 

 

Currently we are without a permanent Rabbi but are supported by Rabbi Frank Smith who regularly leads Shabbat services and events.  Other services are taken by visiting rabbis, qualified lay people and occasionally by members of the community.
